Our industry has an important role to play in the lives of our clients, providing the financial advice and protection they need to achieve their goals and handle unforeseen circumstances.
Wandall is proof of this. In October 2003, her husband was killed when a driver ran a red light. Hear how their financial planning not only allowed Melissa to remain in their home, but also helped her found the Mark Wandall Foundation which supports local charities, funds college scholarships, and hosts events to enrich the lives of children who have experienced loss.

City Tour -- San Diego Land & Sea

You will begin your adventure by sightseeing San Diego's historical Gaslamp Quarter. This historic heart of downtown San Diego is the 16½ block Gaslamp Quarter, an urban, Victorian dining and entertainment district that captures the lively spirit of a bygone era. Next, discover the sparkling side of San Diego on a cruise of one of the world's greatest natural harbors. The captain steers in for a closer look at the activity surrounding our beautiful natural harbor as professional guides narrate. Highlights may include the San Diego skyline, Coronado Bridge,
and Ballast Point. After touring the highlights of our lovely city on the bay, see the highlights of “America's Finest City" by land: We’ll visit Old Town, the first commercial, political and social center of San Diego for more than half a century and the birthplace of California's first mission. Last on this tour, you'll see Balboa Park, considered one of the most beautiful, diversified and culturally enriching parks in North America. Balboa Park is home to an amazing museum complex which is unique because of its centralized arrangement and cultural diversity.
Coronado and La Jolla

Take a special tour of Coronado, one of California's most charming coastal resort towns, and learn how it grew from a shrub filled peninsula into one of the most fabled playgrounds of its time. Following the tour and time permitting, you will enjoy free time to wander the shops and beaches of this lovely island city. From there, we are headed to La Jolla, known to many as "The Jewel by the Sea," La Jolla boasts rocky cliffs, sandy coves, beautiful beaches, palm trees and brilliant flowers. It is also home to numerous boutiques, galleries and artists’ studios. Feel free to peruse the various shops or have a wonderful lunch at one of La Jolla’s many fine restaurants.
Birch Aquarium
11:45am – 3:45pm
Choose this tour and you will enjoy an afternoon of adventure at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps. This 11,000 square foot aquarium is home to fish from the waters of the Pacific Northwest all the way to the Sea of Cortez, a "kelp forest" with a host a marine life, a wonderful outdoor tide pool, computer terminals to research the animals on view, and a spectacular view of the La Jolla shoreline, inhabited by numerous local sea animals. You can explore the largest oceanographic exhibit in the US at the museum and educational center in the facility. The museum features a seismographic table, a simulated deep-sea ridge, and hands-on learning stations on topics such as seawater recycling, and global warming and earthquakes. The tour concludes with free time to explore the shops, cafes and art galleries, and spectacular views of the La Jolla shores area.
Note: no trips to Tijuana. While Tijuana has been a tourist destination in previous years, we currently consider it too dangerous and are not offering a tour to this area. We further discourage LOMA
conference attendees from visiting Tijuana at this time.

Conferment Banquet
This gala event features great food, lively dancing, and memorable entertainment. New designees for all LOMA programs are the focus of the evening and are honored collectively during the Conferment Ceremony. Special awards are given for outstanding achievements. Dress is coat and tie for men; cocktail attire for women.
Children’s Party
Coincides with Conferment Banquet at 7 p.m.
The children’s party includes dinner and takes place on site at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Professional leaders are certified in CPR and first-aid and offer secure check-in/check-out procedures. Games and activities offered are age-appropriate for children between 6-14 years of age.

Fees include:
* Admission to all general sessions, concurrent sessions, welcome
reception, two continental breakfasts, excursion on Tuesday, and the conferment banquet.

Guest registration fees includes admission to all conference events
listed above. LOMA policy allows the purchase of one guest
registration per full paid registration. Guest cannot be a new
designee.

Children’s fee (ages 6 – 14) includes welcome reception,
child-friendly breakfast on Monday and Tuesday, excursion ticket on Tuesday
with parent and children’s party with dinner on Tuesday evening
during the conferment banquet.
Due
to liability restrictions, we cannot accept children under the age of
six to participate in any of the events.
Refund
Policy
LOMA requires all
cancellations or refund requests be received in writing. These
requests carry a $75.00 U.S. administrative charge. Full refunds minus the administrative fee will
be granted on written requests received no later than 3 business days
before the meeting start date. No refunds will be granted if the
request is received within 3 business days of the meeting. If for any
reason a meeting is cancelled, LOMA will refund the total registration
fee. However, LOMA will not be responsible for any travel, hotel
accommodations or other costs incurred.

| The rate
for the LOMA Annual Conference and Conferment is $230.00 per
night, single or double, plus tax.

Conferment
Eligibility
To be eligible for conferment, students must complete a LOMA
designation by August 27 of that year. For example, to be conferred at
the 2008 Annual Conference & Conferment, students must complete
a LOMA designation by August 27, 2008.
Attire
The dress code for the seminar is business casual. Attire for the
banquet is coat and tie for men; cocktail attire for women.
